Though I write urban fantasy and paranormal, my blog is more like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get.
I'm a member of several writing groups and post on the Long Island Romance Writer's blog. www.thelirw.blogspot.com
Christmas music comes in all varieties from religious to pop to traditional to humorous. It stirs our feelings and memories. The notes play with our senses evoking cheer, a lightness of spirit, a reminder that not all can be where they want to be on that special day and/or a renewing of faith. Here are a few of my favorites.
I'll be Home for Christmas by Bing Crosby. This always hit home probably because they usually played it on WWII documentaries. (Blogger hates me. Anything I put first wouldn't play. Sorry)
Handel's Messiah. Love how lively it is.
Snoopy's Christmas by the Royal Guardsman. It's sweet and reflects the Christmas truce between Britain and Germany. What does holiday music do for you? What are your favorite songs?
I was also in the chorus during Junior High and the first year in High school. I don't remember ever singing the Hallelujah Chorus. It must have been pretty.
O Holy Night is a beautiful song. I haven't heard Martina sing it. I'll have to check it out.
My favorite is The Nutcracker - having performed in it for many years. Plus the entire Vince Guaraldi sound track to A Charlie Brown Christmas. Love it!
Merry Christmas, Donna, and hope you have a terrific New Year!
My favorite, hands down, is Handel's Messiah. Other ones I enjoy are "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," "Jingle Bell Rock," and "Santa Baby." I know, quite the variety.
I'm not really a fan of Jiggle Bell Rock or Santa Baby or several others I won't mention. But there's so many others that are beautiful to chose from. Thanks for sharing.
Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Merry Christmas Sallie and the best ot your family.
ReplyDeleteWe sang the Hallelujah Chorus at every high school Christmas concert. I still love it as much now as I did then. Beautiful, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is probably O Holy Night. Martina McBride sings a particularly amazing rendition.

I like the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. The notes create a scene you could almost touch.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you too. Wish you the best in the New Year.
